Delegation from Diponegoro University (UNDIP) represented Indonesia at the ISTANBUL INTERNATIONAL INVENTION FAIR 2023 (ISIF 23) in Istanbul, Turkey, which took place from April 27 to May 1, 2023. The event, which was organized by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office (TURKPATENT), provided an opportunity for students to showcase their innovations in the field of science and technology.

In this global event, Bryant Andhika Prayoga (Chemistry 2021), Rosyadatul Khoiriyah (Physics 2021), and Avita Khilyatu Hafni (Physics 2021) represented a complete team consisting of Bryant Andhika P, Abdurrahman Zakki, Brainy Happy Ana T, and Roni Adi Wijaya (Chemistry Undip), Rosydatul Khoiriyah, Idhiyani Murounaky (Physics Undip); and Aura Herdi R Sutanto (General Medicine Undip) presented their scientific theme entitled “RADIOSPROTECTOR INNOVATION FOR EYE AND GENITAL LENS BASED ON SILICONE RUBBER-LEAD (SR-Pb) AS A SOLUTION FOR RADIO THERAPY SIDE EFFECTS”. They presented an effective method for treating cancer cells, kidneys, genitals, and Computed Tomography (CT scan) organs.

The Indonesian delegation was warmly welcomed by PPI Turkey, the Indonesian Student Association in Turkey. “We are pleased to welcome our guests and support the young generation of diaspora who will bring honor to Indonesia in the global arena,” said Farrel, the Head of the Networking and Cooperation Department of PPI Turkey.

The event, which attracted participants from universities, research institutions, individuals, and companies from around the world, aimed to attract the latest innovations. “We are very excited and proud to participate in this event. We can see unique and cool innovations from various countries. This makes us even more enthusiastic to innovate and conduct further research,” said Bryant Andhika Prayoga, a UNDIP student in the International Chemistry program.

“We hope that this competition can become a motivation for us to continue innovating and researching, and we hope that it can be followed by younger siblings who want to compete and improve their competitive spirit both nationally and internationally. Besides opening up insights and experiences, it also improves international networks,” said Avita when asked about her impression of the competition.

According to Bryant, the essence of participating in this competition is to create new breakthroughs or discoveries that will advance research and technology to solve problems. In addition, it will foster a competitive and innovative atmosphere.

The UNDIP delegation emerged as the third-place winner, beating hundreds of participants from 30 countries. The announcement was made by the event organizer on Saturday, April 29, 2023. “Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), we are very happy and grateful to represent our campus and also Indonesia. We are very grateful to all our friends who have supported us, not forgetting PPI Turkey who welcomed our arrival,” said Bryant, one of the participants. The achievement, according to Bryant, was far beyond their expectations.

Besides their experience during the competition, Bryant and the delegation were happy to share tips and stories with PPI Turkey about their experience participating in the competition. “Life must continue to collaborate, especially in technological research. It requires multidisciplinary knowledge to produce works that have a wider range of benefits,” he said.

Bryant also emphasized the importance of finding team partners who are on the same frequency to establish good cooperation. Teamwork is the key, especially when competing at an international level. Passion is also very important to drive the innovation process forward.
