Semarang, July 16, 2025 — The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Diponegoro University successfully held a Visiting Lecturer event as part of its efforts to strengthen international networks and broaden the academic insight of its community. This activity featured an international speaker, Prof. Dr. Mohd. Hafiz Dzarfan Othman from the Advanced Membrane Technology Research Centre (AMTEC), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.
Held online via Zoom, Prof. Hafiz delivered a scientific presentation titled “Hollow Fiber Membranes for Environmental Protection Applications”, which provided an in-depth discussion on the utilization of membrane technology in environmental protection. This technology is of growing importance in the development of eco-friendly solutions, particularly in waste treatment and clean water applications.
The session was moderated by Prof. Gunawan, Ph.D., a senior lecturer at the Department of Chemistry UNDIP. The two-hour event, which ran from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (WIB), attracted over participants including lecturers, students, and professionals in the fields of chemistry and environmental science.
The session was highly interactive, with enthusiastic participants engaging in discussions and asking questions about practical applications and research challenges related to membrane technology. This highlighted a strong interest in scientific developments that contribute to environmental sustainability.
This activity also aligns with the Department of Chemistry UNDIP’s strategy to foster global collaboration between Indonesian and international higher education institutions. It is expected that such initiatives will lead to opportunities for joint research, academic exchange, and capacity building.
All participants received a free e-certificate as a token of appreciation for their involvement. Registration for the event was open to the public via an official link provided by the committee.
