Department of Chemistry FSM UNDIP Invites Speaker from Universiti Sains Malaysia
Semarang, October 8, 2025 — The Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Mathematics (FSM), Universitas Diponegoro, held a Visiting Lecture featuring an international guest speaker from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). The event carried the theme “Unlocking Nature’s Potential: MixONat 13C Dereplication Strategy in Natural Product Research” and took place online via Zoom Meeting on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 09:30 to 11:30 WIB (10:30–12:30 MYT).
The session featured Dr. Mohamad Nurul Azmi Mohamad Taib, Ph.D. from the School of Chemical Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia, who shared valuable insights on the MixONat 13C dereplication strategy — an innovative approach in natural product research that accelerates the identification of bioactive compounds from natural sources.
The lecture was moderated by Muhammad Badrul Huda, S.Si., M.Sc., a lecturer at the Department of Chemistry, FSM UNDIP. In his remarks, he emphasized that this event served as an important platform for students, lecturers, and researchers to broaden their understanding of modern dereplication techniques that are highly relevant to current developments in natural product chemistry research.
During the session, Dr. Azmi explained the application of 13C spectroscopy in the MixONat strategy developed by his research team to accelerate the discovery of new natural compounds. The interactive discussion drew enthusiastic participation from lecturers, students, and researchers from various institutions interested in the practical implementation of this method in natural product studies.
Through this event, the Department of Chemistry, FSM UNDIP, reaffirms its commitment to strengthening academic networks and expanding international research collaborations, particularly in the field of Natural Product Chemistry.
