Semarang (5/7) Focused Group Discussion under the theme ““The role of Alumni in anticipating the assessment of ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) to Enhance the Education Quality of the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UNDIP” has been held in examination room in the third floor of the Dean Building of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University, Friday (5/7). The program invited board of lecturers of the Department of Chemistry and attended by the alumni of the department among wide range of batches. Officially opening the program, Prof. Dr. Widowati, S.Si, M.Si as the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Mathematics, UNDIP expressed her hope that the program would accommodate the strong sense of familiarity and unity between alumni and the department, as well as to enhance the opportunity of cooperation and support in the development of the department.

In the first session, the Chief of Alumni Association of Chemistry Department, Yayuk Astuti Ph.D presented her report of the programs of the Alumni Association in the period of 2014-2019. In addition to the report, she encouraged all alumni to pay contribution and participation in the development of the department, in academic and nonacademic matters. Support in the part of alumni is crucially strategic in bridging the gap of opportunities in job markets and students in educational world.

Furthermore, Dr. Dwi Hudiyanti as the keynote speakr and the Head of the Department of Chemistry presented the institutional profile of the department along with the achievement of its lecturers and students in national and international level, in academic and nonacademic field. One notable achievement of the students is that of Nurwarrohman Andre Sasongko, being the finalist of Mawapres (High-Achieving Students Competition) held by the Ministry of Research and Higher Education in 2018. Notable institutional achievement is that of being accredited A as the result of assessment of BAN-PT as of 2018. It is worth mentioning that the assessment reveals significant improvement of score in many aspects of the department. Those achievement had been impossible without the support and participation in the part of alumni association. The support is continuously needed should the department intends to take part and succeed in international accreditation.
